ONAWAY MOTOR SPEEDWAY RULEBOOK
2008
Body & Chassis 1. No Camero, Mustang, Thunderbird, Duster, Demon, Firebird or Trans Ams ALLLOWED.
2. Bodies must remain stock in appearance and kept as neatly as possible.
3. Body to be all steel (Aluminum repair panels allowed). 2" spoiler maximum.
4. No sharp edges or protruding iron peices.
5. Front and rear bumpers must be in place. Bumpers will not stick out further than wheels. Slight reinforcement allowed as to provide better and safer anchorage of bumpers.
6. Front inner fenders may be removed. Full fire walls front and rear.
7. Doors are to be welded shut.
8. 1" square tubing with tapered ends for rub rails allowed.
9. Full floor pan must be in place.
10. Windshield required. Lexan may be used to replace stock.
11. The front sway bar must be stock with stock bushing and spacers and even height side to side. No pipe and thread rod combo's.
12. Minimum ride height shall be 6" at the lowest point of frame with driver in car.
13. Stock A-arms only.
14. Aftermarket springs allowed front and rear. Shocks in stock location. No adjustable shocks.
Roll Cage 1. 4-point cab cage required with 3 bars on driver's side and 2 on passenger side. Driver side bars must be integrated with plate steel no less than 1/8" thick. Roll cage pipe diameter no less than 1 3/4" O.D. with a wall thickness of .090.
2. NO exhaust pipe cages.
3. Extra bracing may be added to back of cage with support pipes from rear bumper to main cage.
4. X bracing is allowed.
5. Front loop for radiator protection may be added. This is for radiator protection only - not to be intended for overall pushing strength. Excessive front gage reinforcement will be required to be removed.
Fuel Tank 1. Stock tanks not allowed. Fuel cells REQUIRED.
2. Tank must be suspended type mounting configuration.
3. Bottom of tank must have a minimum of 8 inches of ground clearance.
4. Tanks must be securely mounted and painted red.
5. Fuel lines securely mounted and must not pass through interior of cab.
Engines, Transmissions & Exhaust 1. Pure Stock means pure stock.
2. GM engines with GM cars, Ford engines with Ford cars etc.
3. Stock heads, intake and exhaust manifolds, cast iron only. NO marine or RV intakes. NO aluminum anything!!
4. No center dump manifolds.
5. Flat top pistons are allowed.
6. Stock hydraulic cams. Stock rocker arms.
7. No roller tips. No aftermarket carburation. No adapter plates for any reason.
8. Engine must remain in stock location for V-8.
9. Maximum cam lift .450
10. Maximum compression 155 lbs. 156 psi will get you DQed.
11. Automatic transmissions only and they must match the car. If your car did not have a 2-speed power glide in it from the factory then you may not use one. Power glides allowed in 1972 or older chassis on models equipped from the factory.
12. Gear ratio's may be changed but must match make of car.
13. Stock torque convertors only.
14. No Ford rear-ends in GM cars. Rear-ends may be locked. Rear-ends must remain in place with stock mounting.
15. No 4-wheel disc brakes.
16. Exhaust systems must run under car. Exhaust through the hood not allowed.
17. Mufflers are required. 2" exhaust pipe maximum.
18. No aftermarket ignition systems. High energy coil allowed in stock HEI housing.
19. Cubic inch rules apply, .060 over bored allowed.
20. GM 350, Ford 351, Dodge 360, no 400 blocks.
21. No vortec anything.
22. Expect very strict enforcement of these rules.
Weight 1. Car must weigh 3300 lbs with driver in car after feature race. No exceptions.
2. Added weight must be secured with a minimum of 1/2" bolts.
Tires & Wheels 1. Any street legal radial car tires. Aggressive tread radial truck tires now allowed. No bias ply tires of any kind. RADIALS ONLY! NO RECAPS.
2. Stock rims allowed or you may purchase racing rims - 8" maximum rim width.
3. 8:" maximum tread width on the ground.
4. 1" lug nut required.
5. Offset rims allowed. Steel rims only.
6. 16" tires allowed on 16" racing rims only.
General Rules 1. Window net required.
2. Bucket type seat. Racing seat not required but recommended.
3. Dual shoulder harness with lap belt required. Stock seat belts do not meet insurance requirements.
4. All interior and exterior trim, glass, decals, headlight brackets, plastic grills etc. must be removed. Interiors are to be clean and free of glass.
5. Fire extinguisher required and mounted within easy reach of driver.
6. Battery to be mounted behind driver securely mounted and covered.
7. Driveshaft is to be pained white with a loop near front and rear u-joints.
8. Four wheel working brakes on first pump of pedal.
9. Wrecker hookup chains or cable on front and rear required. Make sure they are strong enough to support the weight of your car.
10. This class is intended to be a low cost form of fully flagged and regulated racing. Testing the rules may result in your car being put into the Factory Division.
11. The track and it's officials reserve the right to inspect and tear down any car at any time.
Compression Test Procedure 1. Car must start and idle prior to test.
2. One spark plug will be pulled for gauge.
3. Engine will be rolled over with starter and carb left in idle position. Car must roll over to pit techs satisfaction. We will not tolerate any excuses as to why your car won't roll over on the starter.
4. Cam lift will be measured off the lifter pushrod.
IF SOMETHING IS NOT STATED IN THESE RULES ASSUME THAT IT IS ILLEGAL!!
